An old man in a morning walk was crushed by a speeding BMW in East Delhi today with his family, claiming that he bled to death that the police rushed to hospital immediately. Angered by the incident, residents rushed to the scene of the accident and blocked traffic movement for vehicles at Vikas Marg and propagule pressure.

The movement of traffic on the stretch was interrupted until noon. Om Dutt Chauhan (62) was taking a walk near the Akshardham Chowk when the BMW was trying to overtake a motorcycle, occurred at about 6:30 am, a senior police official. Chauhan resides in nearby Pandav Nagar. The car, driven by Raman Singhla (27), canceled because of the impact.

There were two others in the car and Raman, son of a businessman based in Karkardooma Baburam Singhla, was arrested. A case of murder and rash and negligent driving registered against him. Relatives and witnesses claimed that Chauhan was not transported to hospital by police and was bleeding at the site for about 30 minutes. The nephew of the late Sandeep Chauhan has alleged that his uncle was not immediately transferred to hospital.

“The police took the occupants BMW at the first station, then took my uncle to hospital. If they had taken quick, my uncle would have been saved,” he said.

Rajesh, an eyewitness, is also reflected similar views and Chauhan said he was conscious and the police took 30 minutes to take him to hospital. “He could have been saved if police had taken him to the hospital in time,” Rajesh said.

Angry residents damaged the BMW, blocked traffic and shouted slogans. Senior police officials, including deputy commissioner of police in other IB Rani visited the site and tried to calm the local population.
